I wrote this a few years ago, when I was living in Asheville. Still appropriate. Except my space heater just broke, so there’s that.
The mornings are slow and cold from a broken radiator.
I am hesitant, more hesitant than I should be.
Things are brighter now,
brighter than they have been.
I am learning,
how to wait for answers,
but more importantly,
how to ask the right questions.
Everything is colder when you’re standing still.
Some things went unnoticed until today:
Heidi’s long hair and nervous laugh.
flat like a plain,
because night has come,
my radiator works.
